In rememberence of 9/11, the Okaloosa Island Fire District would like to thank all those who are currently or formerly a first responder.  We all thank you for your service.

Chief Tilley with 25 years of service

Congratulations to Chief Tilley for his 25 years of service to Okaloosa Island Fire Department.  Chief Tilley started as a firefighter in August of 1989 and rose through the ranks to become our current Chief.  We thank Chief Tilley for his continued dedicated service to the Okaloosa Island Fire Department and the Okaloosa Island residents!

The Okaloosa Island Fire District has adopted a budget for 2013-2014.  A public hearing to make a FINAL DECISION on the budget AND TAXES was  held on
September 18, 2013, 5:01 p.m. at

The vote was unanimous in FAVOR of adoption of the 2013-2014 BUDGET as presented.

Notice of Proposed Tax Increase

NOTICE OF PROPOSED TAX INCREASE

The Okaloosa Island Fire District has tentatively adopted a measure to increase its property  tax  levy.

Last year’s property tax levy:
A.  Initially proposed tax levy………………$2,446,656
B.  Less tax reductions due to Value Adjustment
Board and other assessment changes $       1,015
C.  Actual property tax levy…………………$2,445,641
This year’s proposed tax levy…………….$2,857,164

All concerned citizens are invited to attend a public hearing on  the  tax  increase  to  be  held  on
Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 5:01 P.M. at

Okaloosa Island Public Safety Center
104 Santa Rosa Boulevard
Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

A FINAL DECISION on the proposed tax increase and budget will be made at this hearing.

2013 Collective Bargaining Contract Negotiations

The representatives of the Okaloosa Island Fire District and the Okaloosa Island Professional Firefighters Association Local #2617 have scheduled dates for meetings to conduct the 2013 collective bargaining contract negotiations.

The negotiation meetings will be held on June 13, and 27, 2013, and on July 11 and 25, 2013. at the Okaloosa Island Fire District Headquarters, 104 Santa Rosa Boulevard. Fort Walton Beach. Florida. All negotiation meetings will begin at 1:00 p.m. and are open to the press and public.

A copy of the agenda for any of these meetings may be obtained by writing to the Okaloosa Island Fire District. 104 Santa Rosa Boulevard, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548. An appeal from any decision requires a record of the proceedings. Although the Okaloosa Island District meetings are recorded. affected persons are advised that it may be necessary for them to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

FAILURE TO FILE A PROTEST WITHIN THE TIME PRESCRIBED IN SECTION 120.53(5), FLORIDA STATUTES, SHALL CONSTITUTE A WAIVER OF PROCEEDINGS UNDER CHAPTER 120, FLORIDA STATUTES.
